Hey everyone! My name is Noah Levin and I am currently a junior at Carnegie Mellon University studying Information Systems and Human-Computer Interaction. My interest in design actually stemmed from a deep admiration of digital abstract art. After browsing the beautifully complex works of Pete Harrison, the extraordinary collaborative efforts in Oxygenetic, and many undiscovered talents in the Deviant Art Community, it became clear to me that modern technology has allowed creativity to blossom on a new level. A lot of my artwork is inspired by this new wave of design and expression, and I find that incorporating such stylistic qualities in my web and graphic designs can help bring something new and interesting into the mix.
Outside of design, I play bass and sing in a band, like to row (kayaking and crew), am in a theatre group, am constantly listening to music, and (try to) stay in shape. The most recent books I read were Thinking With Type, Freakonomics, and The Tipping Point.
So... what is Enlev? Check out this brief animation on the name's origin.
Good design comes from good communication. Frequent contact between the client and the designer is essential for the designer to fully understand the personality of the business or organization. It is then the designer's responsibility to reflect the unique identity of the product or service in any and all mediums. Whether it involves sitting down face-to-face, speaking over the phone, or sending an email, I believe the messages and goals need to be communicated on both ends.
Good design bridges the gap between visual attraction and functionality. Many people prefer to separate usability and functionality with aesthetic appeal because of the concern of over-the-top designs, which often make things difficult to understand. I recognize this problem, and strongly believe that implementing good aesthetics does not need to take away from readability. Rather, an appealing design carries across a memorable image and feel that defines the brand of the company.
Good design can and should be affordable. Realizing company resources are often limited, it is especially important to find the most cost effective strategies for attracting a strong client base. In addition, spending less on the design should not sacrifice quality; excess funds can be utilized in other critical areas such as product development or company infrastructure. I strive to produce a superior product on time and within budget.
